Pond Hockey Tournament Held February 4th at Lions Park

The first ever Brandon Lions Pond Hockey tournament with held at the community ice rink on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
This was the third date that was set, but after the warm weather in December and January -- and the ice needing to be rebuilt three times -- it was finally time to play hockey!
There were 5 teams that registered and games started at 8am.  The teams battled it out, with the first and second teams playing for the trophy with a best of 3 match.
The weather was perfect for both the players and spectators.  Concessions were available.

The Lions would like to thank all the sponsors who helped make this possible and the countless hours put in by both Lions members and volunteers.
Plans are already being made for next year's tournament.  If you have any questions about the Lions or would like to become involved contact Lion Mike Ranweiler.

1st Place Team:  Anthony Blom, Jordan Patrick, Tucker Patrick, Danny Steid

2nd Place Team:  Tony Bordeaux, Josh A Haugen, Vincent Kremer, Jacob Thorstad

3rd Place Team:  JT Huisman, Craig Campbell, Zach Carlson, Blake Satterlie

Pond Hockey Tournament POSTPONED to February 4, 2017

The warm weather has been a nice break from the sub zero weather we have had the last few weeks, but it is not so great for keeping skate-able ice at the rink.

So, due to poor ice conditions from the current warm weather, we are postponing our Midwinter Pond Hockey Tournament two weeks to Saturday, February 4th.

On a positive note, this gives you extra time to get your team together and register for the tournament! Swing by Moe Urness Lund Insurance to pick up your registration packet and get details.

Thanks for your understanding.

Ice Rink and Brandon Lions Winterfest Pond Hockey Tournament

If you haven't seen or heard yet, Brandon Lions Park Ice Rink is open and ready for skating!  Keep an eye out for the OPEN/CLOSED sign.  Our faithful rink guys are working hard to keep the ice nice, so if the sign says 'CLOSED' please just wait for the ice to be ready before you hop on.  Thank you :)

This year our club and the community put a lot into the rink to give it a huge face lift.  To celebrate, we are holding our first ever

to be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017.  The tournament is open to the first 8 teams that register and pay the $80 fee (Check payable to the Brandon Lions Club).  Team packets can be picked up at Moe Urness Lund Insurance at 103 Front Street in Brandon.  The deadline to register is Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 4:00pm by returning your packet to Moe Urness Lund.

Each team is guaranteed 2 games.  The top 2 teams will play 2 out of 3 for Championship and awarded the cash prizes.  Teams need to arrive at the rink at 7am on tournament day.
