The Brandon and Evansville Lions clubs co-sponsored the
annual Lions International Peace Poster contest for the Brandon-Evansville
sixth grade class. Students were asked
to create a poster based on the 2017 theme “The Future of Peace.” Posters were judged based on the originality,
expression of theme and artistic merit.
The winning poster, which will go on to the Lions 5M4
District judging, was created by Dru Blanchette. Second place was awarded to Kaleb Burkey and
third place to Allex Schmidt.
Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the
Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups.
This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to emphasize the
importance of world peace and to express their vision of it. These posters are
among the 600,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 30th annual
contest.
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service
club organization with 1.4+ million members in more than 46,000 clubs in 200
countries and geographic areas. In
addition to its efforts toward conquering blindness, the organization has made
a strong commitment to community service and helping youth throughout the
world.
Posters will be on display at Bremer Bank in Brandon through
November 3rd and at Evansville School starting November 6th for Parent-Teacher
conferences.
